Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

  • Relieves muscle aches and joint pain

  • Reduces anxiety and stress hormones

  • Improves labor outcomes and newborn health

  • Improves lymphatic and blood circulation

  • Improves quality of sleep

  • Decreases symptoms of depression

Prenatal massage alleviates some of the normal aches and pains associated with changes in the body that happen during pregnancy such as low back pain and sore feet. If you or a loved one is pregnant, you know that pregnancy is a wonderful time in a woman’s life that comes with many joys, emotions, and “growing pains.” Massage reduces stress and cortisol levels, and can aide in supporting quality sleep and elevated moods. Happy moms=happy babies!

Pregnancy massage can be done in any trimester and as often as desired during a healthy pregnancy. Just make sure to let your doctor know that you would like to receive massage, and check with them that it is safe for you to do so. There are some conditions that are contraindicated for pregnancy massage, such as blood clots, cramping and bleeding, diabetes, and preeclampsia. For a more exhaustive list, visit

Experience Matters

Why West Hills Massage Therapy? Simply having a massage license does not mean a therapist is trained in prenatal- and post-natal massage therapy. At West Hills Massage Therapy, a rigorous pregnancy massage certification is required to work with expectant mothers to ensure their comfort and safety. We use specialized “Side Lying Body Positioning” pillows to create safe, supportive, and relaxed massage sessions. Clients often ask if we can bring our pillows to their home and tuck them in at night because they are so comfortable!

Please reach out to us with any questions, and know that in many cases, massages can be modified to accommodate many conditions as long as a physician’s note is obtained.  *Cupping and herbal liniment are contraindicated for pregnancy massage.
